Backend-first web development. unsexy software, well-built.

BackendFlowAgency is a small, technical web development studio in Córdoba. We design and build the parts of software that other agencies hand off — APIs, databases, authentication, payments, jobs, integrations — and we wire them up to a frontend that doesn't embarrass them. We work in long, deliberate engagements: typically eight to fourteen weeks, never more than three projects at once.

How we work

How we frame the work

Three working principles that decide what we say yes to and what we politely refuse.

/01

Boring technology, on purpose.

We default to PostgreSQL, Redis, Laravel or vanilla PHP, and well-understood deployment patterns. We pick newer tools only when an existing problem demands it. Boring code outlives clever code by a decade — that's the whole bet.

/02

Backend before brand.

We start with the data model and the API contract, then we build outward. The login screen and the marketing site are real work, but they are work that follows the system, not work that precedes it. This is the order in which problems actually want to be solved.

/03

Long engagements, short standups.

Most of our projects run between eight and fourteen weeks. Inside that, we run async-first with two scheduled video calls per week — one Monday, one Thursday — both capped at thirty minutes. The rest is written: PRs, design docs, decision logs you can search later.

Eighty-two engagements since 2017. The metrics we actually check before each retrospective:

What clients say when we're not in the room.

Three recent notes, lightly edited for length.

They wrote everything down. The technical proposal we got after week one is the most honest piece of writing about our system anyone has ever produced. We re-read it before every quarterly review.

Three other studios told us the project was impossible in twelve weeks. Adrián and Núria said it was tight but possible — and then it was tight, and then it was possible.

They edit. Most agencies add features. BackendFlow took twelve user-visible features off the spec and the product became more useful.
